Polk Audio Presents UltraFocus 6000 and 8000 Active Noise Cancelation Headphones

Polk Audio, the award-winning designer and manufacturer of high performance audio products, is now shipping two new headphone models that are geared toward the audiophile on the go. The UltraFocus 6000 and UltraFocus 8000—in-ear and over-ear offerings, respectively—challenge conventional wisdom that active noise cancelation must come at the expense of superior sound quality.

“For too long, consumers have had to make a choice between active noise cancelation and true high-fidelity sound from their headphones,” said Ben Newhall, Polk Audio’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “With UltraFocus, Polk has developed a line of headphones that deliver not only rich, detailed, lifelike audio performance along with active reduction of ambient noise, but also a number of exciting benefits that we think consumers will appreciate.”

The UltraFocus 6000 in-ear canal headphone (SRP: $149.95) provides, in addition to active noise cancelation, provides passive noise isolation as well. In addition, its Push-to-Hear Ambient Control not only mutes the audio signal, but also amplifies outside sounds, giving instantaneous, unfettered access to the aural world around the listener without necessitating the removal of the headphones themselves.

As with Polk’s UltraFit headphones, the UltraFocus 6000 is equipped with ultra-flexible planar audio cables to reduce tangling, plus computer-designed, Kevlar-core Strainguard transitional connections to protect the cable at its most vulnerable points. And, its protective carrying case is roomy enough to fit the included bonuses, like a 2.5mm-to-3.5mm headset adapter for Nokia phones, an airline audio adapter, and an assortment of memory foam, flanged, and flangeless silicone ear tips.

Polk’s proprietary Ultra Fidelity Dynamic Balance transducers ensure full frequency response and minimize distortion, even with the headphones’ active noise cancellation engaged.

The second of the new models, UltraFocus 8000 (SRP: $349.95) features an over-the-ear design that delivers sonic performance that is equivalent to products costing hundreds more. The 8000 includes all of the same features as the UltraFocus 6000, plus supple leather earpads and an on-ear 3-button remote control enables easy use of the iPhone, iPod and iPad. Polk’s molded SecureFit design ensures a comfortable fit free from external distractions. Also, the UltraFocus 8000 features a Skype adapter and 1/8”-to-1/4” plug adapter for use with home audio systems.
