The ATH-ANC23 utilizes Audio-Technica's exclusive QuietPoint active noise-cancelling technology, which detects environmental noise via miniature microphones incorporated into each earpiece, and applies a corresponding sound-cancelling signal. The ATH-ANC23 is engineered to deliver clear and natural high-fidelity sound, and its audio functions in passive mode so listeners will always enjoy their music even if the batteries run out.

The headphones have an in-line volume control that lets users adjust their listening volume without having to reach for their portable music player or the airline audio controls. Many people like to keep their player in a pocket, clipped to their shirt or pants or in a bag, so the ATH-ANC23's in-line control makes adjusting the volume convenient and easy.

The Comply ear tips are made out of special viscoelastic polyurethane memory foam that allows the ear tip to rest where it should be – in the ear canal, not over the ear.

The ATH-ANC23 features Audio-Technica's all-new Comply foam ear tips, which use a patented design that takes advantage of the shape of the ear canal. The Comply ear tips are made out of special viscoelastic polyurethane memory foam that allows the ear tip to rest where it should be – in the ear canal, not over the ear. In addition to a better, more comfortable fit, the Comply ear tips provide additional passive noise reduction and their improved fit results in better bass response that results in a balanced frequency response with tight bass, a detailed midrange and open, extended high frequencies. Because Comply ear tips are 30 times softer than the silicone used on standard ear buds, they're remarkably comfortable almost as if listeners aren't wearing any headphones at all. The memory foam forms itself to the shape of the ear canal, and will remain in place even when jogging or exercising.

The ATH-ANC23 is compatible with the Apple® iPod®, iPhone and iPod touch®, and perfect for use with portable music and DVD players, laptop computers, in-flight entertainment systems and other devices.

The ATH-ANC23 comes with Comply foam ear tips, and small, medium and large silicone ear tips, a soft carrying case, an airline adapter and an AAA battery.

The ATH-ANC23 joins the ATH-ANC7b and ATH-ANC27 over-ear, and ATH-ANC25 and ATH-ANC1 on-ear models to create a complete lineup of noise-cancelling headphones for every requirement and budget.

The Audio-Technica QuietPoint ATH-ANC23 active noise-cancelling in-ear headphones have a suggested retail price of $99.95 ($79.95 MAP), and will be available February 2011.
